MYS Supports International Day of Pink
It starts with each one of us! On April 9, 2014, MYS proudly supported the Day of Pink! It is a day when communities across the country and across the world can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop homophobic, transphobic & all forms of bullying. The International Day of Pink started in Nova Scotia when two straight high school students saw a gay student who was wearing a pink shirt being bullied. The two students intervened, but wanted to do more. They decided to purchase pink shirts, and a few days later got everyone at school to wear pink and stand in solidarity. The result was that an entire school stopped homophobic & transphobic bullying.
