A Place of Healing

Recently, a ten year old girl in one of our Alternative Parent Home foster homes received the bedroom of her dreams through the Dream Room Project.  The Dream Room Project is the brainchild of indigenous artist Wanda Luna.  She goes into the homes of children in care and uses paint as her medium to turn their dreams into reality.

While there, Wanda is primarily focused on building a relationship with the child and family. Throughout the process her hope is that a little wonder and magic is brought into the life of the child which can potentially help them through some of the trauma they have experienced.

All in all, this recent project took Wanda five 12-hour days to complete.  She is currently working on making another dream room a reality for a second Alternative Parent Home foster child.

A special thanks to the foster parents for your hard work, open heart, and making this all possible.

Wanda is also painting several rooms in the new Youth Resource Centre/Shelter Program. Click the link below to learn more.
