Mitch Dorge Wins Sir Hugh John Macdonald Award 2016

At our annual spring fundraising event, MYS honoured Mitch Dorge with the Sir Hugh John Macdonald Award 2016. This award is presented annually to a member of the community who demonstrates values of respect and fairness toward youth and provides practical assistance to help youth develop life skills for a brighter future.

Winnipeg-born Mitch Dorge is a drummer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, record producer, performer, educator and motivational speaker. Since 1991, he has been a member of the award-winning band Crash Test Dummies. As a musician and producer, Mitch has been nominated for three Grammy and eleven Juno awards. He won one Juno and, as a solo artist, a Prairie Music Award.

Through his In Your Face and Interactive program, Mitch brings his message of happiness and positive life choices to youth across Canada. He delivers a sucker-punch message about drugs and alcohol, choices and consequences, in the most unconventional way.
