Team Lead, Healing Homes - Perm/FT

SUMMARY: To assist the Healing Home Supervisor in both the daily operation and development of the home. To ensure all responsibilities to the youth are carried out Relational Child & Youth Care approach framework that promotes the cultivation and mobilization of youth strengths, potential and capacity for growth.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to the youth care worker responsibilities of the program, the Team Leader also:
•      Provides coverage for the Program Manager during scheduled absences fulfilling all responsibilities of the Healing Home Supervisor
•      Provides on-call coverage as required
•      Completes administrative duties, as assigned by the Healing Home Supervisor; these duties may include:
•      Assisting with interviewing and hiring of Youth Care Workers
•      Scheduling, coordinating and training casual youth care workers
•      Orientation for new staff
•      Coordinating the distribution of information to the team
•      Scheduling meetings
•     Scheduling home maintenance
•     Performing financial and purchasing responsibilities, such as replenishing household supplies
•     Managing Healing Home ‘petty cash”
•     Participates in on-going professional development to increase knowledge in the field and increase skill level to continue meeting developing employment needs
•     Supports the program to reflect the MYS treatment philosophy, agency and Human resource policies and program protocols;
•     Represents the program and the agency in a professional manner
•     Works a variety of day, evening and weekend shifts
•     Follows the job description of the Youth Care Worker

•    Demonstrate a good understanding of the Child and Family Services and Community Living Disability systems, Employment and Income Assistance system, private and public market housing, and other youth serving organizations in Manitoba, particularly in the context of Indigenous communities and the impacts of inter-generational and historical trauma 
•    Knowledge, awareness and respect of Indigenous cultures, languages, traditions, and practices

•    Create or support an environment of collaboration while still contributing and sharing credit freely with various teams across MYS and service partners
•    Ability to adapt to changing circumstances or conditions with flexibility and compassion

•    Gather relevant information, recognize patterns and themes in the data, generate and consider multiple alternatives and make decisions in a timely manner
•    Analytical and critical thinker; particularly in regard to engaging and planning with the young adults

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Child and Youth Care Worker diploma or certificate (or equivalent certificate or diploma) and  a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the youth care field 
•    Valid driver’s license.
•    Familiarity with computer programs – e.g., Word, Excel, etc.
•    Degree in an applicable Human Services field (BSW preferred) and 2 or more years experience in the youth care field.
•   Supervisory experience (including financial management).
•   Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 (three) months

SALARY RANGE:  Depending on qualifications per annum. MYS offers a competitive benefits package and company pension plan.


HOURS OF WORK:  40 hours per week, must be available for a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
