Full-Time Clinician - Mobile Crisis Team

SUMMARY: As a member of the Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) and in collaboration with all components of the Youth Crisis Stabilization System (YCSS), the MCT Clinician provides crisis intervention services to clients, their families and caregivers in a professional manner. The MCT Clinician assesses plans and formulates recommendations toward the resolution of the crisis and its underlining or precipitating factors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  of the MCT Clinician, but are not limited to:
• Respond to calls in the community as directed by the Intake Clinician;
• Observe to identify potential underlining cause of crisis situation and subsequently provide on-site intervention including mental health and risk assessments, mental status exams, safety plans, and follow-up plans for youths and their families/caregivers in crisis situations;
• Complete MCT form, provide clear and concise professionally written reports which detail the nature of the crisis and subsequent assessments and plans
• Refer client(s) and caregiver(s) to suitable resources and advocate on their behalf if required;
• Report child protection concerns to CFS designated intake agency;
• Engage clients' families in the resolution process, whenever possible;
• As a team member, provide support to other team members and act in a consultative capacity;
• Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with client(s) and families, and follows all other policies and procedures;
• Provide triage and referral;
• Provide consultation to collateral agencies such as Children’s Mental Health, Child and Family Services, schools, probation, and police services.
• Facilitate topic-specific training sessions as needed to assist the staff team in developing skills to implement treatment plans;
• Work in consultation with other YCSS staff and external agencies, to ensure continuity and communication throughout YCSS;
• Represent the YCSS program both within and outside of MYS;
• Maintain open communication within the agency and fulfill administrative duties as assigned;
• Maintain clinical/professional development through reading, attending workshops and peer and clinical consultation on a regular basis;

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate degree in Human Services or accreditation from a governing Human Services College (e.g. RSW),  a combination of education and experience may be considered
• Minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in a supervised clinical setting
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract (subject to approval)
• Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months
• ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
• NVCI Certificate (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training)
• Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset

SALARY RANGE:  $45,828.10 to $64,337.08 Depending of qualifications per annum. MYS offers a competitive benefit package and pension plan.
      
HOURS OF WORK:  Week 1: Tuesday and Thursday (7am – 7pm), Saturday (7am – 3pm). Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday (7am – 7pm)
