MYS invites Winnipeggers 13-24 to complete national survey on youth homelessness
MYS is proud to be among several agencies across Canada participating in Without a Home: the second national survey on youth homelessness by the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness in parternship with A Way Home Canada. Already, findings from the 2015 survey are helping inform strategies and services to prevent and reduce youth homelessness.
The second survey provides opportunities to further amplify young people's voices and experiences on the causes and conditions of youth homelessness in Canada. Youth who participate will receive a $10 CASH honourarium.
Youth are invited to MYS (175 Mayfair Ave.) on Friday, February 8 from 3 - 7 pm. Enjoy chili and bannock, chill activities and meaningful supports while you fill out a survey. MYS is hosting the event with partners RaY and Here & Now.
Don't worry if you can't make it Friday. The deadline to participate has been extended to February 28, 2019. If you know or are a youth who meets the following criteria and would like to complete a survey (which takes on average between 30 minutes and one hour) please call 204-477-1722 or email email@example.com. Surveys are also available at the MYS Youth Resource Centre at 159 Mayfair (204-477-1804 or 1-888-477-1804).
Youth eligible to participate are:
- Ages 13-24
- experiencing homelessness or housing precarity (ie. couch surfing) - or have experienced either in the past year.
- In a housing program, including transitional housing, Housing First or supportive housing.
Your input is vital! The goal is participation from minimum 2000 Canadian youth. Let's make sure youth voices from Winnipeg are heard loud and clear!
