What is a virtual volunteer?
Do you…

Have time to lend a hand? A desire to help? Posses a skill or special training? All you need is a computer and you are on your way to making a difference. There has been a shift from the traditional methods of volunteering to embracing technology and using it as tool to make a change.

A virtual volunteer can volunteer at MYS from the comfort of their home, work space or from their lap top between classes or meetings or while sitting in an airport with WiFi access! The beauty of virtual volunteering is that it can be done locally or from abroad and at your convenience, anytime day or night.

Below are samples of work created by virtual volunteers since it was first launched in 1998.

Why volunteer?
The incentives for volunteering your time are endless. Our virtual volunteers come from all walks of life; we work with students looking to build their resumes and references, individuals that have retired and are looking to lend a hand, and young professionals wanting to expand their portfolios.

Here’s what our virtual volunteers have to say about their volunteering experiences at MYS

Teresa Santoso, Online Researcher, California, United States

The best thing about volunteering with MYS is that it's online, so I don't have to beat Los Angeles traffic to volunteer. I can use the extra time to actually volunteer and not sit and wait in the car.

- Teresa Santoso, Online Researcher, California, United States
Lauren Kennedy, Graphic Designer, Toronto, Canada

I enjoy the flexible schedule - you can work on your own time. Volunteering at MYS is a win-win situation. You are helping out for a good cause and you can build your resume at the same time.

- Lauren Kennedy, Graphic Designer, Toronto, Canada
Augustus Lo, Programmer, North Point, Hong Kong

We all have been kids before, we knew how important this period would shape our future & life. If we are the lucky ones when we are young, contribute something back to the society, or if we are the opposites, then do something to help others now.

- Augustus Lo, Programmer, North Point, Hong Kong
