February 6, 2009
On February 5th, a reception was held to recognize the founding members of the 100 Society. The reception was hosted by George Sigurdson, the 2008 recipient of the Sir Hugh John Macdonald Memorial Award, in the Sigurdson, McFadden and Associates office high atop Portage and Main and featured wine and appetizer pairings chosen by George Andrews. Mr. Andrews, of Stephan & Andrews Food & Wine Shoppe, also educated the guests on the different varieties of wine he selected and why they work successfully with certain types of food. Guests were also given the opportunity to get the first viewing of a new video for MYS.
The goal of the 100 Society is to secure a minimum of 100 donors who give at least $100 annually. The reception was also open to potential members of the society. Due to the success of the event and the generosity of our supporters, we are currently at 37% of our goal for 2009.
